Are there any reinforcement methods for steel structure engineering?

Generally, in order to better ensure the durability of steel structures, steel structures will be reinforced during installation. At present, there are six commonly used reinforcement methods for steel structures:

1. Prestressed cable method: using high-strength cables to strengthen the weak links of the structure or improve the overall bearing capacity, stiffness and stability of the structure.

2. In steel structure engineering, the components to be reinforced or updated are removed from the original structure: when the structure is seriously damaged or the bearing capacity of the original section is too small, it must be reinforced or updated on the ground. The construction price of steel structure is also very affordable. At this time, it is necessary to set up temporary supports to completely unload the replaced components, and at the same time, ensure the safety of the whole structure after the replaced structure is unloaded.

3. Change the calculation diagram: add additional supports, adjust the load distribution, reduce the internal force level, and forcibly displace the statically indeterminate structural supports to reduce the peak stress.

4. Reinforcement with load: It is used when the stress of components (or connections) is less than 80% of the design strength of steel, or when the components are not seriously damaged (broken, deformed, warped, etc.). At this time, in order to make the newly reinforced bar participate in the stress, it is sometimes necessary to take temporary unloading measures for the reinforced bar. In addition, attention should be paid to not affecting the normal use of other components during reinforcement.

5. Cross-section reinforcement method: locally or along the whole length of the member, steel is used to reinforce it, and it is connected into a whole to make it bear the force together.

6. Unloading and reinforcement: it is suitable for steel structure engineering with great damage or high stress state of components and connections, and it is necessary to temporarily reduce its load. For some structures that mainly bear movable loads (such as crane beams, etc.), their movable loads can be limited, which is equivalent to most unloading.
